Thunder continuous from the west as a rotating storm formed to the SW & moved N, parallel to I35 with this station in between. Storm sirens in N Ft Worth & Haslet were sounding frequently. A strong lightening strike to the SE withing a mile, I assess, was cloud to ground & produced quite a crack. Rain between 0.25"hr to 3.0"hr rain rate, & wind averaging 20+mph with continuous thunder raged for over half an hour. A reformation of rotation produced wind gust of 36mph picked up rain flowing across the yard & blew it parallel to the ground for about a minute. Needless to say, trees were gyrating wildly. Concerning, but the storm moved N spawning damaging winds & possible tornadoes which are yet to be confirmed by NWS. Dodged a bullet. No wind storms with this incident, but Fire Departments went out after a lightening strike to a residence during the heaviest part if the TS. NWS found evidence of EF2 tornadoes to the north in Justin and Denton from yesterday's storms. Rain continued overnight judging by the amount in the gauge. All that was visible on the SW horizon was a dense rain curtain. Scud was hanging straight down and moving N in a line as it passed over. Wind gust at 26mph, Baro Pressure dropping steeply, close lightening strikes to the E, rain at >3.33"/hr during a short period. This station only had a couple of medium limbs down, but a neighborhood across I-35, about 3 miles E as the crow flies, had roof damage, fences and trees down. Significant Weather Report was entered. Damaging storm on Sunday the 16th significant for wind at 52mph for several minutes and 4.0+ "/hr Rain Rate. Frequent thunder but did not hear sirens during the storm. Almost all front and back yards were solid water during the period. This storm was termed a quasi-linear convective storm, aka: big bad squall line or bow echo. Scary enough to make me take shelter. EF0 tornado identified by NWS investigators located about 4 miles east of this station. This same area had damaging storm last weekend.

Later in the day, the large storm shield intensified, and sped up it's southward march. NWS issued storm alerts frequently throughout the early evening. I forgot the barn was still open, and ran out to close up at 1800 as the nasty looking storm loomed. At 1815 winds gusted to 24mph and tree branches whipped wildly. The temp dropped from mid 90's to 71f. Frequent thunder with cloud to ground lightening , and rain pounded. The storm moved thru Fort Worth but nature apparently wasn't satiated. A thin line, S to N resembling a tail, formed behind it giving this station another round of wind and rain. Thunder continued until 2100.
